Victorians will only be able to wear fitted face masks as of midnight on Sunday meaning bandanas, scarfs and face shields won't be allowed. Everyone in the coronavirus-hit state, even in rural areas with few COVID-19 cases, will be forced to wear fitted masks when leaving their home - with $200 fines for anybody refusing to follow the rules. Victorians are allowed to use homemade masks as long as they are properly fitted on the face and cover the nose and mouth. 'All Victorians must wear a fitted face mask when they leave their home no matter where they live,' Mr Andrews said. The Department of Health encourages residents to wear masks that have three layers, but they do not have to be surgical masks.
