Victoria woman rescued after falling through pharmacy trap door

It was a rescue unlike any Victoria Fire Department battalion chief Mark Robertson had ever seen in 25 years on the job. Firefighters were called to the Rexall pharmacy on Douglas Street on Saturday after a customer fell through a hatch in the floor. "Some of the older buildings in Victoria have void spaces in below that are used for storage and this worker had had the hatch opened," Robertson said. "She was fully conscious and she seemed to be doing quite well considering the height that she fell from," Robertson said. "In this short period of time one of our customers fell and clearly in this case the steps we had taken were not enough," he said.
