Victoria recorded 423 new cases in the past 24 hours to midnight, with 149 of the cases linked to known cases and outbreaks, as a number of Melbourne suburbs deal with hundreds of active cases. Today's number is a slight drop on the 445 local cases announced yesterday, while Victoria now has 4,038 active cases. Suburbs such as Broadmeadows, Dallas, Jacana, Campbellfield and Laverton North are dealing with 1,000 active cases or more per 100,000 population, according to Victorian Health Department data. There were 28 new cases recorded in the Broadmeadows area in the past 24 hours, for example, with 240 active cases among a total of 518 cases in the current outbreak.
