A badly hurt teenage boy is still fighting for his life after a car he was in was hit by a train at a level crossing in regional Victoria. The crash happened in the town of Bairnsdale about 6.30pm on Friday, when a V-Line train was crossing Ligar St. The boy (17) and the female driver (19) were trapped in the car for an hour before emergency services could free them from the wreckage. The boy was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and is being treated for injuries to his head, chest and pelvis. Police are calling for witnesses to ascertain whether there was a signal fault as investigations continue.
