Tributes are pouring in for a senior Feilding firefighter, who died only weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. Graham "Gabby" Gabbott held senior roles with both Feilding and Mangaweka volunteer fire brigades in his 38-year career. Gabbott joined the Feilding brigade about 10 years ago and had strived to reach 50 years' service. Shanks said the brigade had recently bought a new van for Gabbott's department, operational support, but he never had the chance to drive it. The brigade has decided to transport his coffin following the funeral service on Thursday, 11am, at Beauchamps Funeral Chapel.
