CALGARY—A Calgary police officer has been charged in the alleged assault of a suspect while on duty in 2016. A constable has been charged with assault in relation to an on-duty incident in 2016, the Calgary Police Service said on Friday. A Calgary police spokesperson said the service notified the director of law enforcement at the time. However, the director of law enforcement decided against an ASIRT investigation and referred the case back to the Calgary Police Service.
