This rivalry between Kiir and Machar is due to struggle of interest between the foreign powers who are the key players with vested interests in South Sudan. Nearly 300 people have lost their lives in recent fighting in South Sudan. The political power struggle between the incumbent President Salva Kiir and former Vice-President Riak Machar has left the new nation in turmoil. All the resolutions reached between the two rivals such as Addis Ababa Peace Accord have been breached, which has turned the country more chaotic. Their interest is all about plundering resources including oil.
