TUESDAY PUZZLE — As a child of 1970s television, I had much to choose from, but a distinct preference. Mr. Newhart’s original TV series, in particular, captured my imagination. He was (and still is) the master of the understated response, and the way he saw the world was hilarious to me. And Mr. Newhart, I doubt you’re reading this, but I want to thank you. All of this is to say that I really appreciated stumbling upon the revealer in Jules Markey’s puzzle, even though it has nothing to do with Mr. Newhart or his comedy.
