Verge GenomicsVerge Genomics announced a new deal with pharma giant Eli Lilly Thursday for a three-year partnership to find new drugs for ALS. Zhang launched Verge in 2015 and quickly built a company that caught the eye of investors and luminaries in genetics alike. As part of the deal, Verge will use its AI platform to find new potential drugs that can treat ALS. Verge already has three preclinical ALS drugs in its pipeline, though these are not included in the deal with Lilly. Zhang hopes that the deal will show the biopharma industry that companies that use AI for drug development are not just a passing fad.
