Venezuelan congress stormed by pro-government mobs, injuring opposition lawmakersAFP Dozens of pro-government activists stormed the grounds of Venezuela's National Assembly and attacked lawmakers, leaving several hurt and bleeding. Venezuelan lawmakers who oppose President Nicolas Maduro have been beaten and bloodied on the floor of congress after pro-government mobs stormed the building, apparently facing little or no resistance from security guards. Late last month, a similar pro-Maduro mob gathered outside congress and prevented lawmakers from leaving for several hours. Opposition lawmakers remained in the building. "Criminals attack the National Assembly, the armed forces are complicit in this madness, but the people and the lawmakers resist and advance."
