Vaughan man who calls himself ‘Dr. Love’ charged in international fraud investigation

A Vaughan man who calls himself “Dr. Love” has been charged in an international fraud investigation, and police believe charitable organizations are among the latest targets of his alleged counterfeit cheque scheme. Charles Olutu is facing one count of laundering proceeds of crime and one count of possession of instruments of forgery, for an incident involving a Toronto woman. Police say a 44-year-old woman was targeted by Olutu between Nov. 2014 and Feb 2015. The woman sent money to Japan, and police allege Olutu worked in conjunction with persons overseas to receive and further launder the proceeds through a counterfeit cheque scheme.
