Despite almost being cancelled earlier this year, the annual Santa Claus parade kicked off today, drawing thousands of spectators outdoors on a crisp but sunny Vancouver day. Telus stepped up to sponsor the annual event in October when organizers feared a shortfall of $150,000 wouldn't be met. Sunday's parade route started at West Georgia Street and Broughton Street and finished at Howe Street and Davie Street. According to Telus, 2,700 people participated in the parade, and over 300,000 people came out to watch. Dancers in green and gold lit up the streets.
