Vancouver’s mayoral race remains crowded as final week of campaign begins

VANCOUVER—At a debate on Sunday, Vancouver mayoral candidates called each other out on promised numbers of new housing units and whether a hospital is the right place for a bike lane as a crowded electoral race enters its final lap. Five Vancouver mayoral candidates debate housing, homelessness and transportation on Sunday. From left: Ken Sim, Shauna Sylvester, moderator Rick Cluff, Wai Young, Hector Bremner and Kennedy Stewart. That’s left the mayoral candidates jockeying not against one opponent, but three or four. Like Sim, Young is promising more consultation with existing neighbourhoods before allowing more development.
