A satisfied Valtteri Bottas narrowly outshone his Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton, with Ferrari close behind, in Friday afternoon’s second free practice for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix at Monza. Bottas contractAfter the session, Bottas was told he is all set to be retained by Mercedes next season. The Finn has bounced back to form after struggling to produce his best at last weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix. He has had some very good moments, like in Sochi, and he has had more difficult races like in Spa. Hamilton then took command before Bottas delivered his best lap shortly before the teams switched their attentions to long runs, in race preparation, instead of one lap pace.
