Coimbatore: The Central Zoo Authority (CZA) of India has finally recognized Coimbatore's VOC zoo as a mini-zoo. The recognition is valid up to May 5, 2017.A few months ago, the central zoo authorities had visited the VOC mini-zoo and gave a list of recommendations to be implemented by the district administration officials.Recently, the civic body had renovated the zoo at a cost of 1crore. Also, all the surplus animals should be separated and the breeding animals should be monitored with population control measures.As per the master plan, the officials should propose the new zoo's plan in detail and the types of animals they plan to house. "The town planning officer has been searching for an alternate place for the zoo's re-location. The process would be completed within this year," the officer said.
