A three-day long photo exhibition to mark Voice of America Bangla Service’s 60 year journey and 75 years of Voice of America (VOA) kicked off on Tuesday in Dhaka. Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and US Embassy Public Affairs Officer Nicholas Papp jointly inaugurated the exhibition titled ‘Many Years, Many Stories’ at EMK Centre. VOA began broadcasting in February 20, 1942 to combat Nazi propaganda with unbiased news and information, while Bangla Service began its journey on January 1, 1958. “Bangladesh is still grateful that VOA broadcast the truth about the horrific atrocities the people suffered during the Liberation War. VOA’s Chief of Bangla language department Rokeya Haider, convener of the exhibition, also spoke at the programme.
