It will be well over three months between games for Canada Women’s National soccer team, but after losing in the second round of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup this summer, they needed time to decompress. On Thursday Canada announced its roster for the exhibition game and a second closed-door match against the 2011 Women’s World Cup champions and Olympic hosts. “We’re very, very happy to go to Tokyo and play Japan,” Canada head coach Kenneth Heiner-Moller said in a conference call Thursday. “It’s an opponent that always have the potential of reaching further than they did in this year’s World Cup. Heiner-Moller wants to build on the positives of the World Cup and add the finishing touches in front of goal heading towards the Olympics.
