With spots in Tokyo 2020 already secured, Canada and the United States were playing for pride in the final of the Concacaf Women’s Olympic qualifying tournament in Carson, Calif., on Sunday. By virtue of making the final, both Canada and the United States will represent the region in the 12-team Olympic tournament this summer in Japan. “For 60 minutes we played the United States (even) and then we gave the ball away,” Canada head coach Kenneth Heiner-Moller said. Playing in front of a partisan crowd, the United States did most of the early running in the final. The United States stepped up its game in the second half, pushing for the opening goal.
