THE Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) asked for proof of the deaths from the Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and cremation of New Bilibid Prison (NBP) inmates, a number of them convicted drug lords. VACC founding chairman Dante Jimenez raised doubts on the reported deaths of high-profile inmates after the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) declined to name the fatalities. “Hindi ba kami dapat bigyan ng information na ito po ay wala na po, namatay na dahil sa Covid-19. Hindi naman puwedeng ganun (They should not deprive us of information about those inmates who died of Covid-19. Jimenez, an anti-crime advocate and Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission chairman, said the process of the cremation was not transparent as there were no witnesses.
