Pushkar Singh Dhami has defeated the Congress candidate Nirmala Gahtodi by a massive margin of over 50,000 votes. Dhami's party, the BJP, had scored a landslide victory in the recently held Uttarakhand Assembly elections, but he lost the polls. According to the Election Commission, Pushkar Singh Dhami polled 92.94 percent votes.
