(File photo)Emergency services had been expecting the worst when crews responded to reports of a submerged car in a Southland river. A police spokeswoman said police and Fire and Emergency NZ were called to the Upukerora River, 30km north of Te Anau, about 9pm on Saturday. On closer inspection, they found that the submerged car was in fact a floating ute canopy. A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said nothing more was found at the scene.
