The SARS-CoV-2 virus contains genetic material in the form of the RNA (ribonucleic acid) molecule. This situation presents a challenge in terms of detecting and diagnosing those infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Swab samples from the person being tested are checked for the presence of SARS-CoV-2 viral genes using RT-PCR. Various types of vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 virus have been developed, with some of them already being administered to the general public. The DNA also codes for the SARS-CoV-2 virus’ spike protein.
