Increased patrol-ling efforts to deter wildlife crime that decimates tigers and their prey is a critical step. In view of this, WWF-Malaysia impresses the urgent need for the establishment of a wildlife crime unit within the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) force, in order to effectively combat poaching and wildlife trafficking. This unit could gather intelligence on poaching syndicates that are part of larger illegal wildlife trade networks. Putting a stop to these syndicates should be made a priority, apart from penalising those who are guilty of committing wildlife crimes. WWF-MALAYSIA
