The Deputy president some years back hinted that when they assumed office they really wanted to honor God in a special way by kneeling down as they were being prayed for. According to him the most difficult thing to do was convincing the retired Chief of Defence forces by then Julius Waweru Karangi that they were going to kneel down as they were being prayed for. Ruto said that Mr. Karangi objected the kneeling down saying that there is no way the commander in Chief can kneel down while the soldiers are standing and watching him. Ruto further said that President Uhuru Kenyatta told the Chief of Defence forces to step back as they knelt down ready to be prayed for. The Deputy President said that at the end of it all the Chief of Defence forces finally agreed that it was worthy kneeling down.
