Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu has accused the electoral body IEBC of misleading the public on voter registration as the exercise nears its end. Speaking in an interview on Radio Maisha on Tuesday he said many Kenyans were expecting continuity of the registration at constituency offices even after the closure of the mass registration on Tuesday 14 February. "I am disappointed with the commission's move to terminate registration in entirety including the continuous one at their offices yet the public was only aware of the month-long mass voter registration's closure," said Mruttu. He said the commission will have itself to blame on not attaining its target as it failed to have an effective civic education. He revealed that registration turnout in Taita Taveta has been poor attributing it to the weather adversity subjected to the residents.
