Unwelcome in New Taipei: Here is what oBike has to say


OBike promises users the ability to end their rides wherever they want simply by leaving the bikes in legally designated scooter parking spaces. However, there have been complaints about illegal parking and the occupation of scooter parking spaces by oBikes. In early July, the New Taipei City government announced on two occasions that the use of scooter parking spaces by "for-profit rental bicycles" was forbidden. That's why the New Taipei City Government changed its stance to forbid oBike parking in scooter spaces. Starting in early April, OBike held weekly negotiation meetings with officials in Taipei and New Taipei and had been scheduled to deploy bikes in New Taipei City on April 27 and April 28.
