A broad area of low pressure near Luzon in the Philippines, may further develop into a tropical cyclone, but its intensity remains uncertain, the Hong Kong Observatory says. It will come within 800 kilometers of Hong Kong in the afternoon today and move across the northern part of the South China Sea towards western Guangdong to Hainan Island in the next couple of days. There will be heavy showers and squally thunderstorms over the coast of Guangdong midweek this week. It will also be windier with swells.
