The sun shone on much of New Zealand and temperatures crept up to the mid-teens in some places yesterday. But from today, it's back to rain and showers for much of the upper North Island as a low swings through headed southeast. The MetService is predicting a ridge of high pressure will spread over the country on Tuesday and Wednesday and this could bring blue skies to the North Island skifields. Yesterday, about 130 Auckland properties remained without hot water after Friday's overnight gales thrashed Vector's electricity network. "Earlier today we had 300 [without hot water]," said a spokeswoman for the lines company, adding that repairs were being done as quickly as possible.
