Unseasonal rain and hailstorm have damaged rabi crops in almost all the mandals and villages of Jagtial district on Friday. The rain also damaged crops in Rajanna-Sircilla and Karimnagar districts. In Ganneruvaram mandal, paddy bought to the procurement centre was damaged for the want of adequate tarpaulin sheets. On April 8, there was crop loss on 1,300 hectares belonging to 1,716 farmers and on April 9, about 580 farmers lost crop on 288.4 hectares. Maize damagedA few mandals of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district were hit by unseasonal rain on Friday evening causing damage to standing maize crop.
