Huawei Malaysia has announced a new software update for all Mate 10 series users that will allow them to use facial recognition technology to unlock their phones. The Face Unlock feature will arrive in Malaysia on May 25, and users will be notified of the update in batches. “With this new Face Unlock feature, customers can look forward to a much more secured and private usage of data and information,” said Huawei Malaysia country director Bill Liu in a statement. Users can customise their own settings for the feature, choosing either “direct unlock” or “slide to unlock”. Huawei claims that the Face Unlock feature can recognise a customer's facial features within mere seconds.
