Friday night the new owners of Gawker Media voted to take down six stories that are the subject of litigation. Before closing on its acquisition of Gawker Media assets, executives of Univision agreed to remove the posts, over the objections of Gawker’s executive editor. The decision was first reported by Gizmodo.com, a Gawker Media site. John Cook, Gawker’s executive editor, lost his battle to keep them up. By deleting the stories before finalizing the acquisition, Univision is aiming to protect itself from taking on Gawker Media’s liabilities.
