The Lord Mayor of Cork has urged people to emulate the courage of Lord Mayor Tomás MacCurtain, murdered 100 years ago today, and to unite to defeat Covid-19. "The vast, vast majority of us will be okay if we show a united front in this battle," he said. Mr Sheehan will instead attend a private wreath laying ceremony at MacCurtain's grave in St Finbarr's cemetery today, along with MacCurtain's grand-daughter, Fionnuala MacCurtain.
