United Way of Toronto and York Region has exceeded its $101.5 million goal for the 2016 campaign. “This is the largest uprising of care in the world in terms of United Way,” said Daniele Zanotti, CEO of the charity. “The fact that we surpassed the goal is really a testament to the generosity of people across this city and region, from Lake Ontario all the way to Lake Simcoe. This is a testament to a caring region, people sharing their abundance of time, talent and treasure.”The release said funds raised are directly invested in United Way programs and agencies to improve lives locally. United Way is about strengthening the places people call home and creating opportunities, Zanotti said.
