United Airlines Opens Flights To Caribbean, Latin America With Covid-19 Testing

The U.S. carrier announced Monday it is adding 10 new warm-weather destinations to its customer Covid-19 testing program, which includes routes from Newark to London and San Francisco to Hawaii. United Airlines is expanding its Covid-19 testing efforts gettyStarting December 7, United Airlines passengers will be able to fly from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Texas, to the following destinations, provided they pass a mail-in Covid-19 test administered by Advanced Diagnostic Laboratory (ADL) that costs travelers $119. In this environment, rapid Covid-19 testing for travelers is considered a crucial component to the industry’s recovery, because it is one of the few means airlines currently have to operate flights full enough to generate revenue. “Widespread testing is key to unlocking international borders and safely reopening global travel,” said chief customer officer for United Toby Enqvist in a statement. American Airlines, British Airways and the Oneworld alliance also announced the launch of its coronavirus testing program beginning Nov. 25 on flights from New York, Los Angeles and Dallas to London Heathrow (LHR).
