The strike was called off as a gesture of goodwill after a request from the Workplace Relations CommissionBus unions have cancelled a 48-hour strike that was due to start this morning. The postponement was agreed as a gesture of goodwill between Dublin Bus management and unions after a request from the Workplace Relations Commission. Dermot O’Leary, the general secretary of the National Bus and Railworkers’ Union, said that there would be intensive discussions over the next few days that would see a resolution “to the satisfaction of our members and commuters”. A negotiator for Siptu, the union, said that mediators believed there was scope to make progress on the pay dispute if discussions continued during the week.
