UniAbuja may get its second female VC in 15 years, as varsity shortlists candidatesA woman, Professor Mabel Evwierhoma, is among the four leading internal candidates on the shortlist to emerge the next vice chancellor of the University of Abuja. University sources affirmed that all four internal candidates possess strong credentials for the plum job that may vitiate the necessity to consider an outsider for it. There were reports of frayed nerves at the institution over alleged moves to appoint an outsider as its new vice chancellor. The tenure of the current vice chancellor, Professor Michael Adikwu, who was appointed in 2014, will expire ‪on July 1, 2019‬. The lecturers were reported to be angry as they viewed this as an attempt to impose a vice chancellor that would do the chairman’s bidding.
