Uni fire incidents falling

Almost gone are the days of couch burnings in North Dunedin, with the number of University of Otago students disciplined for fire-related incidents continuing to decline. The university's annual disciplinary reports show the proctor dealt with 483 offenders last year, the same as the previous year. Fire-related incidents are still falling, with 25 last year compared to 70 in 2016. Both of those were well down on the 246 fire incidents in 2012. Incidents included burglary, assault, cannabis possession, an out-of-control flat party, vandalism and unruly flat initiations.
