Head coach Lee Johnson says Dobson has been to see him to express his frustration, and that has opened up the possibility of a move during the January transfer window, either on loan or on a permanent basis. Johnson has revealed there has been interest in Dobson but so far none of the options on the table have tempted the 23-year-old. "We have had conversations with George and we have left it open, really," said Johnson. Dobson's last League start came under Johnson in the draw against AFC Wimbledon before Christmas, when Sunderland were without eight first-teamers due to a Covid outbreak. Dobson was brought in by Jack Ross in the summer of 2019, joining Sunderland from League Two Walsall.
