Harrif Saleh received a timely boost ahead of the Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL), which starts today, after coming in second in the Malaysian International Criterium warm-up event in Kota Kinabalu yesterday. The Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) sprinter was pipped by NTT Pro Cycling’s Max Walscheid for the title while St George Cycling Team’s Blake Quick completed the podium. Harrif, who downplayed his chances during the LTdL pre-race press conference on Wednesday, admitted he was not expecting a podium finish. “Obviously, I am happy to be on the podium and honestly, I did not expect to be in the top three. Harrif became only the second Malaysian after Anuar Manan to win an LTdL stage by taking the second stage from Senawang to Malacca last year.
