NewsUnemployed graduates from the Northern Province held a protest this morning opposite the Northern Provincial Council (NPC) to demand that they be provided with Government jobs. The protest was held to raise awareness among the Northern Province Chief Minister and Provincial Ministers who met at the Council today. Unemployed graduates in the North have been engaged in a Satyagraha opposite the Jaffna District Secretariat since February 27 demanding Government employment and organizers say today's protest was organized as no solution has been offered for their demands. The unemployed graduates say that though it has been several years since they obtained their degrees, they were yet to find permanent employment. Given this scenario, they say that the degree they obtained through immense effort during the war period now holds no value.
