Both Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Health Minister David Clark have admitted system failures and that they have been let down. The two women, who travelled from Britain, were allowed to leave isolation in Auckland and take a road-trip to Wellington before undergoing Covid tests that turned out to be positive. One of the women had mild symptoms before being tested, but this was put down to a pre-existing condition. "Of course that was our expectation already, so that is where there is a failure in this case." The women arrived in New Zealand on June 7 and applied for a dispensation on Friday June 12.
