Some executives told the Journal that Mr. Plank was seeking the journalist’s advice on business decisions. Mr. Plank has spoken openly about Under Armour’s shortcomings, vowed to make improvements and replaced some senior executives. Mr. Plank denied facing pressure from his board to step aside. Under Armour said Mr. Frisk will report to Mr. Plank in his new role as CEO and join the company’s board of directors. In addition to running Under Armour, Mr. Plank has pursued other business interests through his private investment firm Plank Industries.
