Uncertainty grips telecoms sector as CA board nullified : The Standard

Uncertainty grips telecoms sector as CA board nullifiedThe court has nullified the appointment of the board of directors at the Communication Authority of Kenya (CA), paving the way for the return of former Director General Francis Wangusi (pictured). The ruling by the Employment and Labour Relations Court said ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru acted unconstitutionally in appointing Mahmoud Noor, Paul Mureithi, Laura Chite and Jackson Kemboi as directors to the CA board. CA Chairman Ngene Gituku appointed Wanjau as acting director general on August 22 to replace Wangusi whose second term in office expired on the same day. In addition to the appointments, the nullification of the board throws into disarray policy actions undertaken in the past few months. The ruling follows separate petitions filed by the Consumers Federation of Kenya and activist Okiya Omtata challenging the appointment of the board members.
