Maheno Green and Valley Karaka will meet in an intriguing top-of-the-table clash in the North Otago premier competition this weekend. It will pit unbeaten Maheno Green (six from six) against defending champion Karaka, which is second on the table with four wins from its five games. Maheno Green maintained its winning streak with a wire-to-wire 37-23 win over St Kevin’s College on Saturday. Karaka stepped up the pressure in the second quarter, led by goal defence Nicky Fisher, and took a 23-13 lead by halftime. The Oamaru men’s team beat Waitaki Girls’ Lightning Strike 40-22.
