more-inTIRUNELVELIS. Krishnan (52), a farmer from Therkkupatti, Manur, in the district, alleged committed suicide by jumping into a well after consuming poison near Reddiarpatti on Saturday evening. Sources said Krishnan had taken a huge amount as crop loan from a bank. Since he could pay the loan dues due to crop failure as a result of inadequate rainfall for two years, he allegedly took the extreme step. Based on a complaint lodged by his wife Kaliammal (48), Uthumalai police have registered a case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, sources said.
