TUESDAY PUZZLE — Readers sometimes ask why I select a certain photo to go with a column, and it wasn’t something I really thought about until I solved David Steinberg’s puzzle. I try to land somewhere in the middle, and my editors tend to humor me. A photo of the actor William Jackson Harper as Chidi Anagonye on “The Good Place” seemed like a no-brainer for this one. Mr. Steinberg’s puzzle is beautifully constructed and acknowledges the nonbinary nature of gender identification. And Mr. Steinberg’s theme made this mother’s heart glad to see the most common range of pronouns in a crossword puzzle.
