KUALA LUMPUR: Umno vehemently rejects the proposal to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Party president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said such a proposal was unacceptable as it went against Islamic teachings and the belief of Muslims worldwide as Jerusalem was among Islam's three holy sites. "This week we were shocked with a proposal from the United States to recognise one of the three holy sites of Muslims, namely Jerusalem, to be Israel's capital, “ said Najib in his policy address at the Umno general assembly today. “I am confident and believe that as Muslims, we cannot never accept such a thing. "As Umno president and Malaysian prime minister, I call upon all party leaders, delegates and members here and out there, wherever they may be, to stand and express your stand with confidence ... so that the world will hear the voice of Muslims in Malaysia, that we vehemently reject the proposal to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital for all times".
