Umno not facing difficulties with party polls

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno is not facing any difficulties with regard to the election of committee members including its Supreme Council members. "Based on a letter dated Oct 31, 2017, the Registrar of Societies (RoS) does not have any objections to allow the election of Umno's Supreme Council to be held no later than Apr 19, 2019," Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said in a statement today. Based on Article 10.16 of Umno’s constitution, Tengku Adnan said the RoS had agreed to grant them the extension for a period not exceeding 18 months from the date the elections are supposed to be held which is Apr 30, 2018. Article 10.16 states that the Supreme Council may postpone its elections for a period not exceeding 18 months. "In line with that, the Umno Supreme Council has fixed its annual meeting for branches, women’s wing, youth and puteri starting Saturday May 19 till Sunday June 10," Tengku Adnan said, adding that the division level is on June 30.
