Ultra-fast broadband could woo new business to KaikouraEMMA DANGERFIELD/FAIRFAX NZ Prime Minister Bill English, right, outside the Hurunui District Library in Amberley, following the announcement of the expansion of the Ultra-Fast Broadband Programme. Despite its devastating earthquake, Kaikoura is still an attractive prospect for small business thanks to last week's announcement of an ultra-fast broadband expansion. Kaikoura Mayor Winston Gray welcomed the news on Thursday, saying it would go a long way to encouraging new people to the area to set up businesses in the region. "This expansion is great news for the country, and especially great news for North Canterbury," Smith said. The Government's timeframe could also cause frustrations, with the target for completing the works not until the end of 2024.
