However, the West's stockpiles are dwindling, and no nation holds more weapons than it needs, so gifting weapons increases national risk. But, away from the politics, the harsh reality is that Ukraine needs more weapons - and now. Instead, Western aid has focused on supplying high-tech precision weapons to Ukraine to enable precision strike and the conduct of 21st century warfare. As the war drags on towards its second anniversary, Western political support for Ukraine continues unabated. Hopefully, the US funding issue is resolved swiftly, but the longer term issue of keeping Ukraine supplied with vital high-tech weapons will endure.
